With so many types of grow light systems available, it can be overwhelming to figure out which one will best suit your needs. Different types of grow lights offer different advantages in the growing industry –  so what makes our Full Spectrum Grow Lights stand out above the rest? Nature Gets An Upgrade

When choosing a Grow Light, Asking yourself these questions can help you make the best choice.

 

          • What types of plants will you be growing?
              • Different plants require different environments and often vary in which type of light is most suitable for photosynthesis – which makes finding the proper spectrum essential to the growing process.
          • When are you planning to grow?
              • Plants grown indoors require more hours of light than those grown outdoors. 14 to 18 hours of light per day is recommended for most edible species when grown under artificial lighting. Don’t be tempted to leave the lights on 24-7, however – at least six hours of darkness each day is also essential to plant health.
          • How tall will the plants get?
              • LED Grow lights produce far less heat than traditional fluorescent Grow Lights –  allowing for suspension height to vary as needed. Ideally, lights should be hung 12 to 24 inches above the plants and raised as the plant grows in height.
          • Where will you put the light?

What Makes The Most Green?

A traditional LED Grow Light typically uses a combination of blue and red LEDs. You can generally tell by the pinkish-purple light emitted – this is the result of mixing blue and red light. The reason traditional LED grow lights use this formulation is that plants perform photosynthesis most effectively in the blue and red parts of the light spectrum.

A commonly held belief is that Broad-spectrum LEDs have lower efficacy than red/blue LEDs due to conversion, energy, and optical losses within the phosphor conversion process. However, in indoor applications where the luminaires are the sole source of light, full-spectrum LED luminaires are far better than red/blue since they emit a wide range of wavelengths for your crop throughout the different growth stages.

This is important because as more research is done- wavelengths such as green, which were previously thought of as not very useful, are proving to be important in photosynthesis and certain morphological responses. Additionally, many full-spectrum luminaires can also emit energy in the far-red region, which can help promote stem extension and leaf expansion.
